At this time most of us are smartphones user. We all had heard about smartphone myths but not trying to find out the fact behind it. We believe and follow the myths that don't really need to be followed. So in this article, I am uncovering the whole truth behind the most common smartphone myths.

  • Without a sim card, your phone can not be tracked:- False, it doesn't matter that your phone is traceable with or without sim. Even if your phone has no power still it is traceable. But the government has no interest to trace you unless you are a most wanted criminal.
  • More megapixels means better pictures:- wrong. A smartphone's picture quality does not depend on megapixels. More megapixels means higher resolution pics. When selecting a good camera phone look at more important states like large aperture, sensor quality, image processor, optical image stabilization, depth of field.
  • 4G consumes more data than 3G:- No, 4G does not use more data than 3G but yes 4G eats up data in less Time because 4G is faster than 3G. If you use Facebook and any streaming services like Netflix, youtube, etc then they offer you more batter quality content if you are a 4G user. So it eats up your 4G data in less time.
  • Using smartphone handsfree on-call reduces radiation:- Yes it reduces the radiation if you are using a traditional wired handsfree. But it can't stop and if you are using wireless handsfree like Bluetooth handsfree. It won't help you to decrease the effect of radiation but even makes it worse.
  • charging device overnight damages the battery:- false your cellphone does not take any damage. because your smartphone is smart enough to stop the charging cycle when it is fully charged.
  • Don't keep your phone on your shirt's pocket so the radiation could not harm you:- That's not true. You can not save yourself from the radiation if you are using a cellphone that contains more SAR  (Specific Absorption Rating) value than 1.6 W/kg. The FCC legally limit for public exposure from a cellphone is 1.6 watts per kilogram (1.6 W/kg) that is deemed okay for a human body. A good branded phone does not contain more SAR value than 1.6 watts per kilogram. You can see your cellphones SAR value in the manufacturer site or dialing *#07# in dial-pad to check the regularity norms of your device in your country. So keeping your phone in your shirts pocket won't cause any harm if your phone SAR value is not more then 1.6W/kg. But children and pregnant ladies have different exposure limits. Children observe two times more radiation than adults. So keep your cellphones away from kids and pregnant ladies.
  • Use anti-radiation chips:- Did you believe that fixing a metal on your cellphone reduces radiation. The answer is no. Because the antenna architecture is different from manufacturer to manufacturer, fixing a metal chip without any PCB layout, antenna pattern, geometry never reduce cellphone radiation. Fixing radiation chips stickers on your phone is more harmful to you because it abstracts the signal and your cellphone radiate in higher amounts.
  • Automatic brightness save battery:-  your smartphone equipped with a light sensor you set your phone on automatic brightness mode and think that it will reduce battery consumption. but the light sensor uses more battery when communicating with the phone's processor to set brightness automatically.
  • Killing background apps improve performance and battery life:- totally wrong, most modern smartphones designed to close background apps automatically when they need memory. Background tasks use only noticeable memory, they snooze in the background to make your phone's multitasking faster. So smartphones don't allow those apps to use many phone resources. because of that, it consumes less amount of battery.
